Speculations about Former Prime minister Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto forming political alliance seem to be true as talks about the leaders forming an alliance that will clinch power in 2022 is gaining momentum each day.
On Tuesday Deputy President William Ruto had a meeting with ODM deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya that almost lasted for 9 hours, reports indicate that the governor was representing Raila Odinga.
After the meeting with Oparanya in Narok, Ruto traveled back to Nairobi where he had another meeting with Raila. Sources indicate that the two political leaders settled on two working formats.
The first scenario will be Raila to contest for the presidency and be deputized by a candidate from Mt. Kenya region, while DP Ruto to go for Prime ministers’ slot and governor Wycliffe Oparanya and Governor Hassan Joho would deputize him.
However, Raila would only be required to serve for one term ending on 2027. He would then support Ruto to take over. Second scenario is Ruto for presidency deputize by either Karua or Kiunjuri . Then Raila for prime minister deputized by his two-party deputies Oparanya and Joho.
This possible sharing plan depends on the success of constitutional amendments through the Building Bridges Initiative bill.
