Former Prime Minister and ODM party leader Raila Odinga has returned to public limelight. The former premier has been in self quarantine after being diagnosed with Covid 19. Raila Odinga had a meeting with his close allies lead by Minority leader in the senate James Orengo and in the National Assembly Junet Mohammed.
He affirmed his support to the Handshake and BBI referendum, this comes amidst talks that Handshake between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta was on the death bed.
Raila stressed that referendum was necessary because it will give Kenyans an opportunity to decide what is good for them. This comes after his firm supporters think that referendum is not tenable at this time.
Governor of Kakamega Oparanya who is also deputy party leader of ODM said that it was not the right time to conduct a referendum in the midst of a pandemic and suggested that funds be channeled in the fight of Covid 19.
His sentiments have also been shared by his counterpart ODM governor of Busia Sosipater Ojaamong. The vocal governor who had declared his unwavering support for BBI referendum suggests that the funds be channeled to Covid 19 relief to cushion Kenyans from the adverse effects of the pandemic.
