President Uhuru Kenyatta has ruled out any possibility of the government introducing tax reliefs that would cushion Kenyans from the harsh economic effects of the Covid 19 pandemic following the new restrictions that were imposed on 26th March.
The president explained that the new Covid 19 containment measures which he announced were regional and did not affect the whole country.
He said that the rest of the country is still in operation, so there is no way the tax relief could be imposed.
The President said that they haven’t locked the economy, since key sectors of the economy such as markets factories are still in operation in the counties. This comes after Nairobi workers in the entertainment and hospitality industry asked the government to allow the operate in the five counties.
