Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on Friday April 2 revealed that only government procured Astra Zeneca vaccine was the only one approved and authorized for vaccination against COVID 19. He also banned all private sectors from importing, distributing and administering the vaccine till further notice.

The only agent of vaccination in Kenya will remain the government of Kenya. However, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who is a firm supporter od deputy President, has claimed that the ban by CS of Health Mutahi Kagwe is suspicious.

That its aim is to deny Deputy President William Ruto his second jab. Ruto took his first jab of Sputnik Vaccine barely a week ago and is expected to take another soon.

Also, city lawyers Donald Kipkorir and Ahmednasir Abdullahi also received the first jab of Sputnik V vaccine on the same day with the deputy president.

The acting Director of Health Dr. Amoth clarified that ones who had already taken their first jab of Sputnik V vaccine, would be allowed to have the second jab of the vaccine.
