Directorate of Criminal investigations officers have arrested a 24-year-old woman with three grenades and teargas canisters in her handbag.
The woman was aboard a Marsabit PSV from Moyale and was nabbed at Sololo by officers who were acting on a tip off from the public. The DCI in a statement said the department of Anti-Terror Police had taken over the issue and are carrying out investigations to establish where the explosives were being taken and what was the motive of the suspect.
The driver of the bus belonging to Nanyuki Sacco was also arrested as person of interest to help the police with investigations. Detectives suspect the explosives were destined for Nairobi. The DCI thanked the public for being vigilant for availing the information.
It was a patriotic act and encouraged citizens who have information regarding the incident to report it to the police to help in tracing more suspects to stamp out terrorism.
