Wesley Kipyegon was arrested by Police Officers from DCI , the deputy governor was grilled over fraud charges. It is said that he received 14 vehicles tyres and a chloride Exide battery from Eri Supplies limited on August 3, 2018, but he refused to pay.
When supplier mounted pressure the deputy governor issued a fake cheque that bounced. The total cost of the supplied products according to the charge sheet was Ksh 351,000.
Kipyegon was charged with obtaining goods by false pretence contrary to Penal Code. The county boss denied the charges and was released on bond of sh 100,000 or cash bail of 500,000.
The case will be heard on 7 June 2021. However, Elgeyo Marakwet senator termed the arrest malice and was politically instigated.
