Dennis Oliech opens up on why he refused lucrative deal worth Ksh 890 million, to change nationality to Qatar.

Former Harambee stars and Gor Mahia forward Dennis Oliech has opened up on why he turned down the lucrative offer worth Ksh 890 million to change citizenship from Kenya to Qatar back in 2004. At the time British magazine, The Guardian had listed Oliech as one of the most sought talents alongside other legendary names like Wayne Rooney, Van Persie and others.

This is the time he received the offer to change citizenship, but he refused to do so. He said that he thinks it was the best decision he had made at that time, since Arab countries had made a reputation for themselves of assaulting and misusing immigrants in their countries.

He disclosed that if the offer was from a European country he would have taken it. Despite Oliech refusing to take the chance, he went ahead to have a successful contract as he played for Ligue 1 side Nantes, Ajaccio and Dubai CSC.

Oliech disclosed that he made a fortune for himself since he had purchased various properties, but he had to sell them to cater for the medication of his brother Kevin and Mother Cancer treatment and hospital bill that was almost 84 million.
