CR7 Debuts with Double Strikes as United Hammer Newcastle at Old Trafford

In a most scintillating game, Manchester United on Saturday, 11, hammered Newcastle United four goals to one.

The match started in a rather slow pace as neither side seemed too eager to test the opponents’ defenses.  However this quickly changed when Cristiano Ronaldo deflected Mason Greenwood’s shot on the 45+2 minute to make his first opener for United in 12 years.

The first minutes of the second half saw Newcastle dominate the game with a ball possession of 57% which eventually culminated in J. Manquillo getting an equalizer to bring Newcastle fully back into the game.

The equalizer from the St James Park boys seemed to have rejuvenated United, as on 62’ minute, Christiano Ronaldo latched onto Luke Shaw’s inch-perfect through pass to present an expert finish, restoring United’s lead. Cristiano’s second goal led the popular commentator, Peter Drury to say this on the Portuguese magnifico;

 “Wreathed in red, restored to this great gallery of the game, a walking work of art. Vintage beyond valuation, beyond forgery or imitation. 18 years since that trembling teenager of touch and tease, first tip-toed onto this storied stage. Now in his immaculate maturity, CR7 re-united.”

United seemed to have taken full control of the game with Newcastle appearing to revert to defending United’s heart-stopping strikes. However Newcastle’s defensive strategy proved futile as Bruno Fernandes, another Portuguese Magician made a spectacular super strike behind the 18 zone to give United its 3rd goal on the 80th minute.

And when the clock ticked 92 minute, a wonderful team move was finished expertly by English forward Jesse Lingard to seal Newcastle’s fate and give United its 4th and final goal.

United now leads the EPL table with 10 points and 8 goal differences.
