The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has issued an apology over a tweet that had sensationally termed the BBI as the “Burning Bridges Initiative”.
The commission acknowledged the embarrassing mistake, noting that it had been a ‘typographic error that was made inadvertently’
“The error does NOT any in way reflect the position of the Commission or its staff, the Commission sincerely apologizes to all its stakeholders and the Public,” the tweet read in part.
The controversial tweet has announced the launch of the BBI signature verification process at the Bomas Of Kenya.
“Happening now: The launch of the Burning Bridges Initiative Supporters Verification Exercise at the Bomas of Kenya” the tweet which has since been deleted read.
The tweet elicited mixed partisan discussions on Kenyan social media platforms with a good number calling for the resignation of the tweet’s author.
