Gor Mahia football club Secretary General, Samuel Ochola, has appealed to opposition leader Raila Odinga to cancel his planned Jacaranda rally in lieu of the Mashemeji Derby. The rally coincides with the derby slated for Sunday January 29th at Nyayo Stadium.
“We the Kogalo fraternity are aware that you have planned a consultative meeting with wananchi cum demo on January 29, 2023,” reads part of the letter addressed to the Right Honourable Raila Odinga dated January 26, 2023.
Going by his Monday’s pronouncement, the Azimio La Umoja coalition leader, who also doubles up as Gor Mahia’s patron, will hold a rally at Jacaranda grounds in Embakasi East Constiuency on Sunday January 29, 2023.
“As our dear patron, we wish to remind you of our Mashemeji Derby clash with AFC Leopards at 3 pm at Nyayo Stadium. The same day that you will be holding consultative meeting,” the letter continues.
Consequently, Gor Mahia FC has reached out to its Patron to either consider putting off the rally or having it and in good time to enable the supporters of both clubs make their way to the stadium in time for the derby.
